Kazu Umeki was born and raised in Tokyo until going off to boarding school in Massachusetts. He continued his education in the United States and received his BFA and MIA from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
In his atmospheric yet intimate work, Kazu employs several media to contemplate moments of beauty stolen from everyday life and from the natural world.
His recent photographic works as BLECHMEKI (blechmeki.com) are exhibited in a museum and various commercial buildings in California including AMOCA and Bank of America Building at 555 California Street, San Francisco.
He is a recipient of Award of Excellence from the Graduate Studies at RISD.
Kazu lives and works in San Francisco.
